- Published by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. in cooperation with George Washington University, the SHAKESPEARE QUARTERLY contains scholarly research articles on all aspects of Shakespeare's works and life. Articles interpret aspects of particular works, analyze particular characters, or discuss Shakespeare productions. Some of the articles deal specifically with the teaching of Shakespeare. The journal also includes notes, performance reviews, and book reviews. The number of articles per issue varies from two to four, but there are many more in special-topic issues. The fifth number each year contains the important annual "World Shakespeare Bibliography," a partially annotated list of recent world scholarship on Shakespeare, including books, articles, dissertations, reviews of theatrical productions, book reviews, and other materials (Katz).
