- SOCIAL RESEARCH is published by the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science of the New School for Social Research, founded in 1933 as a university-in-exile for scholars escaping European totalitarianism. It provides a forum for theoretical discussion on a variety of social science topics. There is a strong political tone to many of the entries. Issues usually focus on a broad subject area topics covered have included taxonomy and deviance, study of garbage and waste, and proceedings of the school's conference on "Food: Nature and Culture" (Katz).
