- POLICING AND SOCIETY is a scholarly journal concerned with law enforcement. Any subject relevant to law enforcement may be covered, although the relationship between police and the overriding political and economic realities is stressed. Scientific investigations of police policies and procedures, legal analyses of police powers, and management-oriented studies of police organization are presented. The editor is at the Centre for Law and Society, University of Edinburgh. The editorial board includes members from many countries where serious research and academic inquiry into policing take place, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United States. Most authors are college or university faculty, and the articles are well-written and documented (Katz).
