- JOURNAL OF ISRAELI HISTORY deliberately shies away from the current scene instead, it examines the byways in the history of Zionism, illuminating many little-known aspects of the national renaissance movement of the Jews. The history of Palestine in the early part of the century and of the efforts of the Zionists to translate their dream into reality is the main period covered. It usually does not include the more contemporary period, after the establishment of Israel in 1948. Important features are a large book-review section and a bibliography at the end of each volume (Katz).
