- Formerly published as BRITISH JOURNAL OF EDUCATION AND WORK
- The JOURNAL OF EDUCATION AND WORK's central concern is with the transition process from school to work. It focuses not only on education and training programs in schools, colleges, and specific areas of employment, but also on the wider changes in society and the economy that impinge on these programs. The journal publishes articles about employment, structural changes in the economy, the socialization and transition process in society, as well as material on links between schools and industry, the Youth Training Scheme, the New Training Initiative, prevocational education programs, and examination and assessment procedures in transition programs. The great majority of the articles deal specifically with the British scene, though some of the arguments and conclusions may be relevant to the United States and elsewhere (Katz).
